Group show TASCHEN is an exhibition of 18 photographers. Curated by Jon Feinstein and amani olu, “this exhibition follows Humble’s vision of fusing and collapsing photographic genres. Documentary becomes conceptual, portraits are “conceptual” or “process oriented;” and the notion of photojournalistic truth is neither entirely refuted, nor taken for granted. Among these artists, Brian Shumway and Sophia Wallace’s images similarly converge traditional elements of fashion photography with explorations of race, gender sexuality…”

In London the following week, I will exhibit work in Strange Bedfellows a group show of 14 photographers curated by Sue Golden opening Wednesday, October 6th. Each artist is paired with another artist so that hybrid meanings are explored. “Here the everyday contrasts with the enigmatic and exceptional, the obvious with the unusual. What’s particular in this presentation is the questions the image groupings provoke; the contrasts and disparities, the illusions and realities, the unconventional and the ordinary.”

The next opening (also in New York) is Tuesday, October 12. I will exhibit large scale photographs from my new series On Beauty in a two person show with Julie Fogarty. The show is called The Way Light Feels on You and will run at Leslie/Lohman Gallery in Soho from October 12 - December 8.
